What is this white object on the library wall?

Answer

These are Occuspace sensors. The library is using these to determine use of some areas in the library, so we can make recommendations and improvements for students. Please do not tamper with or unplug these boxes for any reason.

Occuspace is the creator of occupancy monitoring sensors that determine the real-time occupancy of spaces. The sensor technology detects WiFi and Bluetooth signals to estimate the number of people in the building. They do not collect or store any personally identifiable information. Occuspace is GDPR and CCPA compliant. However, if you do not want the Occuspace sensors to observe your electronic device(s), you can turn off your device’s Bluetooth and WiFi while in the MCW Library.
