What do I do if the item I want to borrow is already checked out?

Answer

Books, DVDs, CDs

If an item you want to borrow is not available, you can request the book from another library. Go to the item’s information page in the library catalog, and click the button on the right to submit a HELIN request or an ILL request.

Course Reserves and Board Games

If the course reserve or board game you want to borrow is on loan to another user, you can place it on hold. A hold will prevent the borrower from renewing the item.

Place a hold on the item by clicking the Place Hold button on the item’s information page, log in with your Wheaton email and password, then submit the form. A staff member will get the item and put it on the hold shelf in the Atrium. You will get an email when it is ready. You can check it out with your Wheaton ID at the Information Desk in the Atrium or using a Self Checkout Kiosk (in the Atrium, by the Periodicals Level entrance, and the Discovery Center entrance).
